Ooks Fall Short To Queens

The NAIT Ooks women's hockey team played against the visiting Red Deer Polytechnic Queens on Saturday night. The Ooks fell short of the Queens with the visiting team winning 5-2.

In the first period between the Ooks and Queens, the Queens took an early lead with Julie Wagner scoring on the power play, and the assists going to Alesha Santos and Kyla Hansel. The Queens extended their lead with Rylee Mepham scoring, assisted by Camryn Ward and Alli Soyko. The Queens' third goal was scored by Ward, with the assists going to Mepham and Soyko. The Queens led 3-0 at the end of the first period. 

The Ooks looked for redemption in the second period. The Queens scored their fourth goal of the night with Hayley Kolosky scoring, and the assist went to Jenna Sellen. The Ooks finally got on the board with Hanna Paquette scoring and the assists going to Michaella Kibblewhite and Hailey Cruickshank. Paquette scored again to cut the Queens' lead down to two. However the Queens scored again, with Avery Lajeunesse scoring, and the assist going to Ward. After the second period, the Queens led 5-2. 

The third period was physical between the Ooks and Queens. Both teams battled for possession and spent time in the penalty box. Neither team scored in the third period, resulting in the Queens winning the game 5-2.
