LAKE defeats SAIT

Calgary, October 27, 2023 – LAKE 4 at SAIT 2

Lakeland College emerged victorious in a thrilling hockey match against SAIT on October 27, 2023. The final score was 4-2 in favor of Lakeland College, with both teams putting up a strong fight throughout the game.

The first period saw Lakeland College take an early lead with goals from Hailey Carothers and Kylie Perry. Carothers scored at the 4:08 mark, assisted by Calla Kampen and Darby Robertson. Perry followed suit at 15:13, with Alyssa Shaw providing the assist.

The second period remained scoreless, with both teams battling hard on the ice. However, the third period saw a flurry of goals from both sides. SAIT managed to get on the scoreboard at 10:42 with a goal from Sage Barstow, who scored unassisted. But Lakeland College quickly responded with another goal from Carothers at 14:55, assisted by Robertson and Kampen.

SAIT fought back and scored a power-play goal at 18:24, with Pyper Alexander finding the back of the net, assisted by Tamryn Ward and Esther Boelema. However, Lakeland College sealed the victory with a goal from Robertson at 18:47, assisted by Carothers and Keyra Buziak.

The three stars of the game were awarded to players from Lakeland College. Hailey Carothers, who scored two goals and provided one assist, was named the first star. Darby Robertson, who scored one goal and had two assists, was named the second star. Calla Kampen, who had two assists, was named the third star.

In terms of penalties, both teams had their fair share. Lakeland College accumulated a total of eight penalty minutes, while SAIT had ten penalty minutes. The power-play opportunities were not fully capitalized on, with Lakeland College going 0 for 5 and SAIT going 1 for 4.

The referees for the game were Chris Lopes and Landon Maheux, with Luke Esau and Richard Hilton serving as linesmen. Zachary Ziegler was the timekeeper, and Jordan McKenzie was the scorer. Sophie R was the penalty timekeeper.
