Ooks Soar Over Broncos

On Saturday night, the NAIT Ooks women's hockey team faced off against the visiting Olds College Broncos. The Ooks won the game 6-0 over the Broncos. 

Seconds into the first period, the Ooks scored first, with Cassidy Shandro tipping the puck past the Broncos goalie, Cienna Kinghorn, to get an early 1-0 lead. Ooks Halle Graham scored the second goal, with the assists going to Hannah Prinsen and Shandro. After the first period, the Ooks led 2-0.

In the second period between the Ooks and Broncos, both teams battled for possession. Aurora Van Wormer stood firm in the net, making various saves in the second period. Both teams battled, but neither was able to score. The period ended with the Ooks leading 2-0. 

Finally, minutes into the third period, Ooks' Bre Martin scored to extend the home team advantage. Shortly after, Ooks' Kienna Higgs scored to bring the Ooks a 4-0 lead. Despite defensive efforts from the Broncos, the Ooks scored again, with Cassidy Shandro tipping in her second of the night on an assist from Cheyenna Harden. In the final 2 minutes, despite being short-handed, the Ooks scored again, with Hannah Prinsen scoring an unassisted breakaway goal. The Old's College Broncos played a physical match, but the Ooks held firm and defended their lead on home ice. The Ooks won the game 6-0.
