Huge Win For Ooks

On Saturday afternoon the NAIT Ooks' women's hockey faced-off against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers for the last game of their weekend series. The game was high-scoring with the Ooks winning 9-1. 

The first period of the game was high-scoring with a total of five goals scored. Ooks scored their first goal following a battle infront of Rattlers' goalie, Kinlee Fahselt. Ooks forward Kienna Higgs scored with the assist going to Grace Morton. Ooks' Cassidy Shandro scored short-handed with the assist going to Bre Martin giving the Ooks a two-goal lead. Rattlers' Madison King wasn't going to let this stand and cut the Ooks lead in half, with the assist going to Jacey Farr. The Ooks retaliated seconds later with Shandro scoring and the assist going to Martin. Ooks scored on the power play with Martin scoring and the assists going to Cheyenna Harden and Hailey Cruickshank. After the first period the Ooks led 4-1. 

In the second period the Ooks scored first with Kamryn Aebly scoring and the assists going to Sidney Kobi and Abigail Robar. Ooks' Aebly scored her team's sixth goal of the afternoon with the assist going to Robar. Less than a minute later Ooks' Halle Petek scored to give her team a six-goal lead, with the assists going to Julianne Crozier and Jessica Engelbrecht. The Ooks lead 7-1 after the second period. 

Ooks' Taylor Premak scored at the beginning of the third period with the assists going to Hanna Paquette and Crozier to extend the Ooks lead to 8-1. There was a lot of back forth between the Rattlers and Ooks, with both teams having lots of opportunities in the offensive zone. Ooks' Grace Flanagan, scored her team's ninth goal of the afternoon with the assists going to Engelbrecht and Aebly. Ooks won the game 9-1.

The players of the game were number 18, Bre Martin from the Ooks and number 10, Madison King from the Rattlers.
