Lakeland Wins Gold in Convincing Match

In a highly anticipated clash for the gold medal at the ACAC Women's Basketball Championships, the Kings University Eagles squared off against the undefeated Lakeland Rustlers in a battle for supremacy on the hardwood.

From the opening tip-off, the Rustlers asserted their dominance, setting the tone with a strong defensive effort that stifled the Eagles' offense. Capitalizing on their offensive skill as a team, Lakeland surged ahead in the first quarter, building a commanding lead to end the period with a score of 15-6 in their favor.

The Eagles, however, refused to be deterred and mounted a spirited comeback in the second quarter. Kings University fought tooth and nail to chip away at Lakeland's lead. Despite their best efforts, the Rustlers maintained their composure and held onto their advantage, heading into halftime with a 31-17 lead.

As the stakes continued to rise in the third quarter, both teams upped the ante, exchanging blows in a fiercely contested battle. The Eagles showcased their offensive skill, pouring in 19 points in the quarter and outscored the rustlers by 1 point. Heading into the final frame, Lakeland held a 49-36 advantage over Kings University.

With the gold medal hanging in the balance, both teams left it all on the court in a thrilling fourth quarter. The Eagles fought valiantly to bridge the gap, mounting a late surge in an attempt to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. However, the Rustlers showcased their championship pedigree, weathering the storm and executing crucial plays down the stretch to secure a hard-fought 61-50 victory.

With this impressive triumph, the Lakeland Rustlers remained undefeated and were crowned champions of the ACAC Women's Basketball Championships, capping off a remarkable season with a well-deserved gold medal win. Despite falling short in the final, the Kings University Eagles displayed commendable grit and determination throughout the game, showcasing their resilience in the face of adversity.

#19 Aneilia Ayotte from the Eagles had a great game and lead her team with 21 points and from the Rusters was #8 Susan Ayaa with 18 points.

Tournament all stars were award to each team. From the TKU Eagles was #19 Aneilia Ayotte And #13 Megan Aleman and for the Rustlers was #11 Haley Somers and #6 Hineaupounamu Nuku.
