The opening game of the ACAC women's basketball final four was a very thrilling match. The King's University Eagles took on the St. Mary's Lightning. As the final buzzer sounded, it was The King's University Eagles who emerged victorious, securing a hard-fought 66-59 win over the St. Mary's Lightning to advance to the championship game.
The first quarter set the tone for the game as both teams came out firing on all cylinders. The King's University Eagles took an early lead scoring 7-2 with a three pointer by Jordana Rivet from TKU. TKU gained momentum in the first quarter and finished with 19 points, while the St. Mary's Lightning kept pace with 14 points of their own.
The second quarter saw a defensive battle unfold, with both teams tightening up their defenses. The King's University Eagles managed to maintain their lead with 11 points in the quarter, while the St. Mary's Lightning matched them with an equal 11 points, heading into halftime with the Eagles leading 30-25.
After the break, The King's University Eagles continued to showcase their offensive firepower, putting up 20 points in the third quarter. However, the St. Mary's Lightning struggled to find their rhythm offensively, only managing to score 10 points in the quarter, giving the Eagles a 50-35 lead heading into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, the St. Mary's Lightning refused to go down without a fight, mounting a spirited comeback effort. With their season on the line, they unleashed a relentless offensive assault, scoring 24 points in the quarter. However, The King's University Eagles remained composed under pressure, matching the Lightning basket for basket to secure the 66-59 victory and punch their ticket to the championship game.
#15 Jordan Rivet from TKU had a great game with 17 points and 9 rebounds and #8 Ivet Hidalgo had a great game with putting gup 19 points.
The Eagles are set for the Gold medal game tomorrow night.
