WBB| Kodiaks wrap up home season with a win

February 17, 2024 - Kodiaks won securing the number one spot in the south going into playoffs 

 

The first quarter saw the Kodiaks taking an early lead, but the Eagles swiftly closed the gap. The Kodiaks' solid defence prevented the Eagles from taking the lead, prompting a timeout from the Eagles to regroup. Kayla Soetaert of the Eagles demonstrated skill with 3 points and 3 rebounds, while Jocelyn Neilson of the Kodiaks contributed 3 points and 5 rebounds. The quarter concluded with the Kodiaks ahead at 15-12.

Despite the Eagles mounting a comeback in the second quarter, the Kodiaks managed to pull ahead again. Aneilia Ayotte of the Eagles showcased her prowess with 3 rebounds and 6 points, while Annah Westrop of the Kodiaks matched her performance. The Eagles fought fiercely, but the Kodiaks maintained control, ending the second quarter with a score of 33-24 in their favour.

Entering the third quarter, the Eagles showed determination in narrowing the gap, but the Kodiaks resisted. Jocelyn Neilson's steal, followed by a successful play assisted by Hannah Helton, highlighted the Kodiaks' dominance. The Eagles called a timeout to regroup, but the third quarter concluded with the Kodiaks in a commanding position at 54-37.

In the final quarter, the Kodiaks sustained their lead, showcasing a formidable defence that the Eagles struggled to penetrate. Tylee Perry of the Kodiaks stood out with impressive 3-point shots, while Megan Aleman of the Eagles displayed a commendable overall performance with 13 points. The Kodiaks ultimately secured victory with a final score of 82-50, demonstrating their strength and skill on the basketball court.
