February 16, 2024 - Lethbridge's win bumps them into first place in the south

 

In an electrifying showdown between the Kodiaks and Thunder, the Kodiaks surged ahead in the first quarter with a commanding lead, sparked by the performance of #22 Jocelyn Neilson, who secured the first points for her team. Despite a valiant effort from Thunders #8 Chloe DeKlerk, who managed to score 8 points, the Kodiaks held their ground, finishing the quarter with a score of 20-13 in their favour.

 

As the second quarter unfolded, the Kodiaks continued to dominate the court, with #5 Emily Hall's steal followed by #11 Hannah Helton's clutch points. However, the Thunder fought back, with #2 Haley Cleland sinking two crucial 3-pointers. Nevertheless, the Kodiaks maintained their lead, ending the quarter with a score of 47-31.

 

The third quarter saw a resurgence from the Thunder as they began to narrow the gap, putting pressure on the Kodiaks. Despite the Thunder gaining momentum, the Kodiaks managed to hold onto their lead, though not without facing a formidable challenge. The quarter concluded with the Kodiaks still in front, with a score of 61-47.

 

In the final quarter, the Thunder intensified their efforts to catch up, applying relentless pressure on the Kodiaks. However, #21 Annah Westrop's impressive 3-point shot bolstered the Kodiaks' lead. Despite a standout performance from Thunders #11 Rachel Harvey, who scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, the Kodiaks ultimately pulled ahead, sealing the game with a final score of 86-58.
