Women's Basketball Huskies roll past Broncos on home court

Fort McMurray, Alta. (February 16, 2024) - Olds College Broncos 42 Keyano Huskies 81

The Keyano Huskies Women's Basketball team started strong and kept their foot on the gas pedal in a 81-42 victory against the Olds College Broncos at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. 

Danika Cadieux burst off the bench for 25 points to lead all players on the court while double-digit performances from Kaylynn Tucker (15), Jaylynn Twin (14), and Casey Gorieu (11) also added to the winning total. The Huskies shot a clean 50.0% (30-for-60) from the field, making 11 of 28 attempted three-point shots. They also converted on 10 of 16 free throw attempts. 

Leading 15-3 after one quarter, the Huskies won a tight second quarter by five points to hold a 17-point advantage at the half. From there, the teams played through an even 16-16 third quarter before the Huskies rolled to a 32-10 fourth quarter to close things out. 

Meghan Swartz led her side with 14 points. Nicole Farkas and Caitlin Paul each had 10 as well in the contest. The Broncos shot 26.8% (15-for-56) from the field, making a trio of three-point shots. They also made nine free throws in the match.
