Lightning Hold On Against Resilient Huskies

Basketball fever warmed the gym at Glenmore Christian Academy on a cold Calgary day, creating an electric matchup between the Keyano Huskies and the St. Mary's Lightning. From the onset, the Lightning showcased their dominance, catapulting to a 43-35 lead at halftime, setting an electrifying tone. Senior night added an emotional layer as Jaiden Hansen, the sole senior for St. Mary's, basked in the support of a fervent crowd of fans and alumni, fueling her team's energy.

Despite the early deficit, the Huskies fought valiantly, with Jaylynn Twin delivering a stellar performance off the bench, amassing 27 points and 13 rebounds. Kaylynn Tucker added 20 points, contributing to the Huskies' commendable effort. On the opposing end, Jaida Wallis showcased her sharpshooting prowess with 22 points, including a remarkable 5-9 from beyond the arc. Ultimately, the Lightning emerged triumphant with a final score of 79-70, solidifying their position in 3rd place in the South division. Despite the loss, the Huskies' playoff aspirations remain alive as they hold onto 5th place in the north, promising more thrilling matchups in the future.
