Ooks Loose Final Home Game of 2023-2024 Season

On Saturday night, the NAIT Ooks played the Ambrose College Lions at the NAIT gymnasium.

Ooks had a slow start in the first quarter, trailing behind the Lions as their defence was slow starting and struggled to defend against the constant drives from Nya Gach. Lions led 12-10 after the first quarter.

Ooks finally took the lead in the second quarter as their offence dominated the boards, getting multiple chances to score. Ooks, Rory Vandermeer, was a crucial part of the Ooks offence with great moves low in the key. The Lions had found a new gear and returned from a 6-point deficit late in the quarter. However, the Ooks still led the game 30-28 after the second quarter.

Lions quickly took the lead in the first few minutes of the third. Ooks, however, began to dominate the court defensively and shut down Lion's offence. However, the Ooks offence couldn't capitalize on their offensive opportunities and again started falling behind the Lions. Lion led the game 47- 40 after the third quarter.

Ooks had continued to struggle in the fourth quarter to generate anything offensively. But with great outside shooting from Mikah Reed, they managed to stay within reach of the lead but it was too late. The Lions effectively shut down the Ooks attempts to take the lead and won the game 64-55.
