Ooks Lose at Home to Eagles

Saturday's action saw the second game of the double header between the Kings University Eagles and the NAIT Ooks. After falling in Friday night's contest, the Ooks came out very aggressive. Ooks #0 Laila Wright forced the Eagles to get into early foul trouble, resulting in over seven minutes of bonus in the opening quarter. The Eagles were able to get out to an early due thanks to #12 Alyssa Yorke scoring seven early points. The Eagles pursuit of offensive rebounds gained them a nine-point lead after the first quarter.

The Eagles lead 23-14 after the 1st quarter.

The Eagles were able to push their lead to double digits in the opening minutes of the second. The Ooks were able to keep the game within striking distance after 3-pointers by #9 Abigail Payne and #4 Mikah Reed. The Eagles were able to respond to the Ooks 8-0 run pushing the lead back to double digits before half time.

The Eagles lead 44-33 at half time.

Coming out of the half, the Ooks were able to hit back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the lead down to single digits. The Eagles were able to withstand the early run from the Ooks pushing their lead back to double digits. Two 3-pointers by Eagles #15 Jordana Rivet saw them gain their largest lead of the game so far at 20 heading into the fourth.

The Eagles lead 66-46 after the 3rd quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Ooks coming out with lots of energy trying to make a run. The Eagles were able to control the pressure form the Ooks and increase their lead. The Eagles were able to maintain their 20-point margin for the majority of the final quarter.

The final score was 80-63 for the Eagles.
