Lethbridge defeats SAIT

Calgary, AB - Saturday, Feb. 3: Lethbridge Kodiaks 79 at SAIT Trojans 68

The SAIT Trojans women's basketball team fell to the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Saturday by a final score of 79-68. With the win, the Kodiaks improved to 14-3 on the season. SAIT sits at 7-11 heading into the final three games of the year.

Anegor Wol led the Trojans in scoring with 16 points to go along with six rebounds and four steals. Off the bench, Vanessa Cormier shot 6-7 for 14 points with three assists.

For Lethbridge, Courtney Deemter shot a lights-out 10-13 from the field and 3-3 from three-point range to finish with 28 points. She was followed by Tylee Perry, who scored 15, and Jocelyn Neilson who added 12 with 11 rebounds.

Every quarter was tight, as neither team won a period by more than four.

SAIT forced eight turnovers in the first but led by Courtney Deemter shooting 100% from the field, Lethbridge finished the quarter 7-12 and took a 19-16 lead into the second.

Brook Baker and Macy Mulholland combined for 15 points in the second, but Courtney Deemter again shot 4-4 in the quarter for 10 Kodiaks points. Lethbridge shot 56% in the second frame, winning the quarter 25-21 and went into halftime leading by seven.

Vanessa Cormier's 10 second-half points weren't enough for SAIT, as they were outscored 35-31 in the second half.

The Trojans will take on the 7-9 Keyano College Huskies this Friday, hoping to bounce back after a disappointing weekend.

Lethbridge will head to NAIT to take on the Ooks, also on Friday.
