Rattlers roll into win column in Olds

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers started the 2024 portion of their women's basketball campaign on a high note, defeating the Olds College Broncos 82-61 at the Ralph Klein Centre for their first victory of the season.

Breanna O'Connor led the way for the Rattlers (1-10) with 26 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals. Meanwhile, Brynn Bremner added 17 points and seven rebounds, and Jordyn Knight chipped in with 14 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals.

For the Broncos (1-10), Caitlin Paul paced the team with 22 points, while Nicole Farkas and Sharlese Weigum each flirted with double-doubles; both had 11 points, and Farkas had nine rebounds to Weigum's eight.

The Rattlers jumped out early and never trailed after building a 27-3 lead through the opening quarter, eventually extending the advantage to 45-14 at halftime before the Broncos began chipping away, getting as close as 70-55 in the dying minutes of the matchup.

The two sides will complete a weekend doubleheader tomorrow at 1 p.m.; the game will be available on ACACTV.ca, as well as on Telus OptikTV channel 1998.
