Queens continue unbeaten start in Olds

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens were dominant from the opening tip, defeating the Olds College Broncos 96-36 at the Ralph Klein Centre on Friday to continue its unbeaten start to the season.

Lauren France had 19 points and three rebounds off the bench to lead all scorers for the CCAA's seventh-ranked Queens (9-0), which led a balanced attack that featured double-digit scoring performances from Janai Hubert (16 points, 12 rebounds, four steals), Sandra Garcia-Bernal (12 points, 10 assists), Heena Sidhu (10 points, eight assists) and Peighton Melton (10 points, eight rebounds).

For the Broncos (1-8), Nicole Farkas had eight points and six rebounds, while Bree Hagen also had eight points to go with three rebounds; Meghan Swartz chipped in with six points and eight rebounds.

The Queens and Broncos will complete their home-and-home tomorrow at 6 p.m. in Red Deer, which will wrap up the pre-Christmast portion of both teams' schedules. The game will be available on ACACTV.ca, as well as on TELUS OptikTV channel 1998.
