Ooks fall victim to the Rustlers

On Saturday night the NAIT Ooks took on the Lakeland Rustlers at the NAIT gymnasium.

The Rustlers quickly established their lead with great outside shots from number eight Susan Ayaa. The Ooks were struggling to break through the Rustlers defence that had been denying them, and the Ooks called a time-out early and soon after seemed to have finally gained some momentum as the Rustlers found themselves in bonus allowing the Ooks to close the gap with great foul shooting from the Ooks players. However, the Ooks were still trailing the Rustlers 27-15 after the first quarter.

The Ooks were slowly closing in on the Rustlers lead as they gained momentum from number zero Laila Wright's fantastic drives.  However, the Ooks defence was still struggling to defend against the Rustlers offence, and the Rustlers continued to grow their lead with great shots from number six Hineaupounamu Nuku. The Rustlers led the game 51-34 going into the third quarter.

Ooks offence had picked up steam, with fantastic shooting from number zero, Laila Wright. Yet the Rustlers continued to grow their lead as their offensive ball movement gave them plenty of opportunities and great shooting from number nine Alana Olson.

Rustlers maintained their lead over the Ooks in the fourth quarter with great offensive ball movement and drives. Ooks weren't giving up and continued to battle and drive to the net again with great shots from number zero Laila Wright. However, the Rustler defence began to shut down any opportunities the Ooks created, shutting them out offensively. Rustlers won the game 79-54
