Lightning Defeat Ooks at Home

On Friday night, the NAIT Ooks played St. Mary's University at the NAIT gymnasium.

In the first quarter, both teams battled for the lead, but the Lightning quickly took it and managed to grow their lead with great outside drives from number eleven Andria Stitt. However, the Lightning doon themselves in foul trouble, and the Ooks managed to keep the visiting team's lead within reach with great drives from number thirteen, Rory Vandermeer. 

Lightning led the game 21-11 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Ooks struggled defensively against the Lightning's offensive plays and shots from number eleven Andria Stitt. But the Ooks weren't out yet, and their offence seemed to be gaining momentum from great drives from number ten Bree Halowski.

Lightning led the game 37-26 after the second quarter.

In the third quarter, lightning continued to hold the lead with great outside shots from number three Jazmyn Kellogg. However, the Ooks continued to attack the basket with great drives, but the Lightning's defence was shutting them out. The Ooks generated good offensive movement but struggled to follow through and execute the shots. Looking to shift the game momentum, the Ooks called a timeout. The Ooks finally broke through the Lightning's defence and began to close the gap with great outside shots from number two Jenna De Haan.

Lightning led the game 58-40 after the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Ooks offensive plays were strong. Despite this, the Lightning ball movement gave them the opportunity to continue to dominate the game offensively, growing their lead with shots from number five Jaida Wallis. The Ooks gained some momentum and found new life, with number four Mikah Reed generating strong offensive plays. However, it was not enough, and the Lighting won the game.
