Thunders defeat the Trojans

Calgary, AB – Saturday, November 4: CUE Thunder 81 at SAIT Trojans 64

The SAIT Trojans women's basketball team fell to the CUE Thunder in a hard-fought battle Saturday night, ending with a final score of 81-64. SAIT are now 0-5 on the year, and CUE improved to 3-5.

After a disappointing loss yesterday, the Trojans came to play early in this one. #10 Anegor Wol scored nine of her team high 23 points in the quarter, and the rest of the starters added another seven. SAIT played lockdown defense, holding CUE to just 14 points in the quarter and took a 16-14 lead into the second.

The second quarter was more of the same, as both teams played tough defense and had trouble generating points. The Trojans hit one three in the 10 minutes and ended up with 17 on the board. At the half, SAIT led 33-32.

SAIT extended the lead to 43-38 early in the third, but CUE would go on a 17-2 to end the quarter and took a 55-45 lead going into the last 10 minutes. #0 Brook Baker gave SAIT six points in the third, but it wasn't enough to keep the Trojans out front.

Both teams ended up scoring the most of any quarter in the fourth. #0 Brook Baker and #10 Anegor Wol led the way for SAIT, scoring nine and eight points respectively, but CUE shot lights out, going 8-15 from the field on their way to 26 points.

The game ended in a final score of 81-64 in favour of the Thunder.

The Trojans will look to bounce back next Saturday, Nov. 11, squaring off against the OC Broncos at SAIT.
