Women's Basketball Huskies use strong second half to top Rattlers

Fort McMurray, Alta. (November 3, 2023) - Medicine Hat College Rattlers 39 Keyano Huskies 75

It took the Keyano Huskies Women's Basketball team some time to get going Friday night on their home court in Fort McMurray, Alta., but they quickly made up for it with a 48-point second half in a 75-39 victory against the visiting Medicine Hat College Rattlers. 

Kaylynn Tucker drained 31 points while the duo of Casey Gorieu and Emma Tomchuk each had 10 to join Tucker in double digits on the day. 

The Huskies shot 45.7 percent (32-for-70) from the field, making four three-point shots on 17 attempts (23.5%). They also made seven of 11 free throws. On the Rattlers' side of the ball, they shot 37.8 percent (17-for-45) from the field, making two three-point shots and three of four attempted free throws. 

After taking a 21-11 lead through one quarter, the Huskies were challenged by the Rattlers, who closed the gap to six at the half. A 23-14 third quarter quickly swung the game back in the Huskies' favour and they finished off the game with a 25-4 fourth quarter to dominate their guests. 

With 15 points, Jordyn Knight was the lone Rattler to reach double digits on the day. 

The Rattlers will now continue on to face the Lakeland College Rustlers while the Huskies will stay at home to host the Briercrest Clippers Saturday night.
