Wolves outpace Broncos in Olds

The Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves started out fast and didn't let up, defeating the Olds College Broncos 58-31 at the Ralph Klein Centre on Saturday.

Raylene Badger played a dominant game for the Wolves (1-4) as she finished with 11 points, 14 rebounds and four assists, while Makayla Porteous added 10 points and seven rebounds and Gracie Reschke also chipped in with 10 points.

For the Broncos (1-3), Caitlin Paul led all scorers with 13 points to go with five assists, while Sharlese Weigum chipped in with six points, three rebounds and three steals off the bench.

Northwestern Polytechnic jumped out to an early 12-2 lead in the opening 4:10 of the contest, eventually extending their lead to 22-6 by the end of the first quarter. The Wolves continued to keep the Broncos at bay, taking a 40-19 lead into halftime before a low-scoring third quarter extended the Wolves' lead to 50-23.

The Wolves head into an off week before welcoming the SAIT Trojans to Grande Prairie on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m., while the Broncos look to regroup on home court tomorrow against the NAIT Ooks at 2 p.m.

Both matchups will be available on ACACTV.ca, as well as on TELUS OptikTV channel 1998.
