Rustlers pace themselves in win over Clippers

Lakeland women's basketball had their most competitive matchup of the season so far, but their offence was still too dominant for the opponent.

The Rustlers faced off against another undefeated squad, the Briercrest Clippers, a team who beat Lakeland last season and went on to win bronze at the ACAC Championships. Lakeland clamped down defensively, at one point leading the Clippers 16-3 and eventually 24-12 after the opening quarter, however, Briercrest fought back to pull within 10 by the third.

In the final quarter, Lakeland had an early 6-0 run to stave off any visitor momentum and win 75-59. Susan Ayaa was palyer of the game with 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 blocks. The home side remain undefeated, while Briercrest is now 4-1.

Saturday night, the Rustlers are back in action, hosting the Medicine Hat Rattlers.
