Ooks Soar Over the Wolves

On Friday night, the NAIT Ooks played Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves at the NAIT gymnasium.

In the first quarter, Ooks established a lead early with great shooting by number six Payton Neilson. Ooks were dominating the court both offensively and defensively. However, the Wolves seemed to have gained momentum with great drives to the hoop by number thirteen, Olivia Rozinsky.

Ooks led the game 22-9 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Ooks continued to leave the Wolves behind with their fantastic offensive plays by number four Mikah Reed. The Wolves were left behind, struggling to defend against the Ooks' offensive drives and offensive rebounding. Ooks' lead continued to grow, doubling the Wolves' points. However, the Ooks found themselves in foul trouble giving the Wolves some momentum. The Wolves' offense was able to slowly start breaking through the Ooks' defence with some great shots from number five Makayla Porteous. Nonetheless, Ooks held their lead going into halftime.

Ooks led the match 41-24 after the second quarter.

In the third quarter, Ooks' offence was thriving as they continued to leave the Wolves struggling to defend against outside shots from number four Mikah Reed. As the Wolves continued to struggle, they called a timeout in hopes of regrouping and shifting their momentum. However, Ooks continued to lead the game.

Ooks led the game 69--36 after the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Ooks continued to dominate the court both defensively and offensively. Wolves, yet again, seemed to build momentum with some great drives down low by number fifteen Paige Snyder; however, Ooks held tightly onto their lead, winning the game.

Ooks won the game 90-46
