SAIT Trojans Women's Basketball Team Put Up a Valiant Fight but Fall Short to Red Deer Polytechnic Queens

CALGARY, AB - In a thrilling and hard-fought rematch against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens, the SAIT Trojans Women's Basketball team displayed tremendous determination and resilience. Unfortunately, despite their spirited effort, the Trojans were unable to reverse their fortune, succumbing to the Queens with a final score of 69-73. This follows a challenging loss on Friday night, where they fell 53-76 to the same opponent.

The Trojans' resilience was put to the test as they entered this game with an injury-ridden squad, missing three key players who were already sidelined for the season. To make matters more challenging, two additional players sustained injuries during the game, further depleting their roster.

Player of the game for the Trojans, #7 Macy Mulholland, emerged as a shining star with an incredible 24-point performance. Mulholland showcased her prowess, contributing significantly to her team's effort during her 36 minutes on the court.

Following closely behind, #0 Brook Baker displayed an impressive performance, scoring 15 points and securing 7 rebounds while playing the entire 40 minutes of the game.

On the Queens' side, #14 Heena Sidhu was named their Player of the Game, tallying 16 crucial points to lead her team's scoring effort. Additionally, #23 Sandra Garcia Bernal was a force to be reckoned with, registering 15 points and an impressive 5 steals.

The Trojans started the game strongly, keeping it close with a score of 19-21 at the end of the first quarter. However, the Queens managed to turn the tide and take a 43-35 lead into halftime. In a closely contested third quarter, the Trojans pulled ahead to a 54-51 lead, providing a glimmer of hope.

Ultimately, the Queens rallied to secure a hard-fought 73-69 victory. Despite the loss, the SAIT Trojans Women's Basketball team showcased their fortitude and should be commended for their gritty performance, especially considering the adversity they've faced early in the season. Their fans can look forward to more exciting matchups as the team continues to overcome obstacles and work towards success in the future.
