Fort McMurray, Alta. (October 20, 2023) - Augustana Vikings 71 Keyano Huskies 64
The University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings spoiled the party at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre Friday night, securing a 71-64 win to defeat their host Keyano Huskies in ACAC Women's Basketball action.
Mackenzie Mrazik led the way for the visiting Vikings with 21 points while Kaylynn Tucker of the Huskies led all players with 25 points.
The Huskies led 19-13 after one quarter and maintained the same lead at the half with both teams scoring 19 points in the second quarter. The Vikings charged out of the gate in the second half with 23 points to the Huskies 12 to take a five-point lead, increasing it by two in the final frame.
Tayah Fiveland (15), Alyssa Banez (12) and Elli Cailliau (11) also finished in double digits for the Vikings while Lameez Khan (13) and Maja Besic (10) found their way in double digits as well.
Up next for the two teams is a rematch at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre on Saturday afternoon with tip-off at 1:00 p.m. on ACAC TV and Telus Optik 1998.
