WBB| Kodiaks win their 2023 season home opener

#10 Kodiaks Kitawna Sparks gains the first point of the game in the Kodiak's home opener. The Lion's found their ground early in the game gaining a short lead, #5 Makenna Yeung scoring 6 points in the beginning of the first period. The Kodiak's pressed the Lion's allowing a 5-point lead and pushing the Lion's to call a time-out near the end of the period. Kodiak's #11 broke away making a layup and shortly after scored a 3-pt jump shot. The quarter concluded, with Kodiak's 15 and Lion's 11. 

Kodiak's start the 2 quarter with 5 immediate points, forcing the Lion's to call an early time-out. The Kodiak's continued to score allowing a 10-point lead, #22 Jocelyn Neilson scored 6 points in the second quarter. The Lion's fought the Kodiak's but it was no match, the Kodiak's ended the quarter with a score of 35-23. 

The Lion's had a hot start to the third quarter, Lion's #4 Marin Barkey scored a fast 7 points in the beginning followed by Lion's #10 Ariana Dela Paz with another 4 points. Kodiak's #11 Hannah Helton, found her grove with 7 easy buckets throughout the quarter. The Kodiak's continued to gain their lead with a 22-point gap. The quarter finished with a score of 62-40 for the Kodiak's. 

The final quarter is off quickly, Kodiak's start it with 6 points gaining a 28-point lead. Forcing the Lion's to call a timeout, Lion's #8 Andrijana Bokan closed the gap with 6 points. Kodiak's continued to pressure the Lion's to find a whole in their defence. The game ended with a score of 77-56 for the Kodiak's.
