Ooks Defeat Thunder in Home Opener

The NAIT Ooks took on the Concordia Thunder in their home opener on Saturday night at the NAIT gymnasium.

In the first quarter, the Thunder quickly took control of the court with their incredible offensive drives and outside shots from number six Jenna Rinsky. With the Ooks struggling to close the point gap, they called a timeout. It wasn't long before the Ooks took the lead with great offensive shots from number six Payton Neilson. Ooks held their lead till the end pf the first quarter.

Ooks led the game 20-14 going into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Ooks continued to hold the Thunder at bay, growing their lead while the Thunder continued to struggle to get to the net. Ooks' defence was thriving with number thirteen Rory Vander under the net. The Thunder's momentum seemed to shift as they slowly started to close the game with great drives from number six Jenna Rinsky.

Ooks led the game 33-26 going into the second half.

In the third quarter, Thunder's offence was able to tie up the game with great drives from number eight Chloe DeKlerk. Nonetheless, Ooks held onto their lead as their offence started to gain momentum with great drives by number six Payton Neilson.

Ooks led the game 49-44 going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Ooks dominated offensively and defensively, expanding their lead. Thunder's offence seemed to be picking up momentum with huge drives from number eight Chloe DeKlirk who'd effotts allowed the Thunder to take the lead for the first time.

Ooks won the game 60-59
