Third quarter fire ears Kodiaks the win

CAMROSE, AB - draining buckets in the third quarter, the Lethbridge Kodiaks come out on top 83-65 against the University of Alberta - Augustana Vikings, Saturday night at Augustana Gym. 

The win kicks starts the Kodiaks season with a win after falling to the Vikings last season in the ACAC Championship quarterfinal. 

Leading the way to victory with a dominating performance, Hannah Sloan put 34 points up on the board for her side, while teammate Kitawna Sparks joined her with 16. 

Across the court, the home side found offence from third-year forward Mackenzie Mrazik with 17, while returning team leader Tayah Fiveland had 16 points and led the team with nine rebounds. 

Exchanging quarter through the first half, the second half was going to prove to be the difference with the Kodiaks out scoring their hosts 29-12 in the third quarter before moving on the a breezy 83-65 victory. 

Looking ahead, the Vikings will head north to Fort Mac to take on the Keyano Huskies in a two game series on the road, while the Kodiaks will have a home-and-home series with the Ambrose Lions.
