Kodiaks down Lions in defensive battle.

WBB | Friday, Jan. 27 – Kodiaks 55 at Ambrose Lions 44

Courtney Deemter had 16 points and Kitawna Sparks added 12 as the Kodiaks downed the Ambrose Lions 55-44 in a defensive battle on Friday night in Calgary.

The Kodiaks led almost wire-to-wire, jumping out to a quick 15-6 lead after the first quarter and continued building their lead to 12 at half. Lethbridge fended off a Lions charge in the third quarter that saw Ambrose briefly take a one-point lead, but a strong Kodiaks defensive effort in the fourth quarter limited the Lions to just seven points helping to secure the win.

Deemter was named the Kodiaks player of the game, adding three rebounds and two steals to her 16 points. Tylee Leavitt grabbed ten boards and four points off the bench. Both teams struggled to find their offensive rhythm, with the Kodiaks holding the Lions to just 24% shooting.

The win improved the Kodiaks record to 10-5, while the Lions dropped to 7-8.
