Thunder Close Weekend With Big Win

EDMONTON, AB (February 13, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the NWP Wolves Saturday night to close out their weekend of games. After a huge lead in the first half, the Thunder rode that momentum to take the game 84-56.

The first quarter started with Concordia coming out strong and taking an early lead over the Wolves which led them to take the first quarter 19-10. Coming into the next quarter the Thunder were on fire and scored 24 points to take the half 43-18. Third quarter saw the Wolves working hard to catch up, scoring 20 points to Thunders 18. Even with that push, we see Thunder keep their lead and take the quarter 61-38. Great back and forth play came in the fourth quarter by both teams but your Thunder found their momentum and outscored the Wolves 26-18 to take the match 84-56.

After the game, Thunder head coach Robbie Valpreda commented, "Credit to NWP Wolves who came out and played hard against us. I thought we lacked the effort and energy at the beginning of the game but definitely found our stride. Our work at the end of the third quarter and into the fourth got us the finish."

The One Team Sports Players of the game were #20 Raylene Badgerl for the GPRC Wolves and #11 Rachel Harvey for the Concordia Thunder.

The Thunder return to action Sunday, February 20th to play The King's University Eagle's at home.
