GPRC Host Double Header Against LAKELAND Rustlers
The Wolves welcomed the LAKELAND Rustlers to their gym for a pair of games this weekend.
Rustlers #14 Bilige Topaloglu scores the first bucket of the game at 8:00 minutes and sinks another one 1 minute later. Jayden Demchuk was first to score for the Wolves, going 1 for 2 from the line. Not much scoring in the first quarter as it ends 13-3 for the Rustlers.
2nd quarter opened with a 3 point make from the Rustlers, one minute in. #14 Caitlin Paul sinks the first bucket for the Wolves, with a fast break. Rustlers respond with a big 3 point make. Score 24-7 Rustlers. Lanes Challis drains a 3 to bring the Wolves to 10. Half way through Jayden Demchuk goes to the line and goes 1 for 1. Quarter ends 42-19 for the Rustlers.
The crowd was entertained by the Gymniks Cheer Team at half time. Athletes ages 5-9 showed off their athleticism, wowing the crowd with their abilities.
Wolves were first on the board in the 3rd. Jadyen Demchuk goes to the line earlier in the quarter, 2 for 2. The Rustler answer back with back to back buckets. Rustler converted a few fast breaks and they go up 49-23 half way through the 3rd. Carly Rombs scores a late bucket from behind the arch, bringing the Wolves to 29. After 3 quarters its 62-32 Rustlers.
4th quarter starts with the Wolves down 30. Ready to close the gap, # 9 Sophie Leslie draws a foul and connects on her 2nd. Lane Challis from New Zealand hits a 3 to bring the Wolves 3 closer. Lakeland goes on a 9-0 run. The Wolves battling hard, however Lakelands offense was relentless. 3 players hit double digits for points for the Rustlers. Game ends 92-45 for the Rustlers.
Player of the Game for the LAKELAND Eagles was #10 Jaden Cook with 18 points and for the GPRC Wolves #8 Jayden Demchuk with 9 point.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow at 1pm in the GPRC gym.
