Briercrest's First Quarter Too Much for Lions to Overcome

Briercrest's First Quarter Too Much for Lions to Overcome

We had a great turnout for the 2019-2020 Ambrose Home Opener and started off with the introduction of a new tradition for Ambrose Athletics.  "The Ringing of the Bell" is a reminder that we are all Lions and a call to action to support our teams through engagement and cheering.  Briercrest came out blazing with players Sydney Segroves and Amber Tilcox leading their team early in points. Ambrose had a slow start and were unable to close the distance as the game progressed. Due to a lot of turnover from last year's team, a lot of the Lion's players played well in their first ACAC game.  Avery Deighton managed to score double digit points, Nya Gach grabbed seven rebounds and Sarah Burnell contributed both offensively and defensively throughout the night.  Fans stayed loud and were supportive of their team regardless of the score.  Unfortunately, the girls were unable to convert that energy and lost the game to Briercrest 66-90. Player of the game for Ambrose was given to Avery Deighton and Sydney Segroves claimed it for Briercrest.

* After game it was determined that an ineligible athlete played for Briercrest and the Clippers were forced to forfit the game resulting in an win for Ambrose
