Kings slide past Lakeland for ACAC men's volleyball bronze

It wasn't the medal they were hoping for at the start of the week, but the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings still went home with hardware after a spirited battle with the Lakeland College Rustlers, which the Kings claimed in five sets (25-17, 15-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11) to earn the bronze medal at the 2024 ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship in Olds.

ACAC South All-Conference outside Noah Carlson completed a dominant weekend with another starring performance as he finished with 27 points (24 kills, two blocks, one ace) and three digs, while Zach Neufeld added 10 points (eight kills, two blocks) on four digs. Meanwhile, ACAC South All-Conference setter Tom Wass directed an efficient offense with 51 assists while also posting eight digs, second only to teammate JJ Graham, who wrapped up his college career with a 14-dig performance.

For the Rustlers, Brock Tomyn led the way with 17 points (13 kills, four blocks) and four digs, while Gabriel Bjorkas added 16 points of his own (10 kills, four aces, two blocks), and Elijah Rayner also got into double figures with 12 points (six kills, five blocks, one ace).

Following the match, Carlson and Bjorkas were also named to the ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team.
