Rustlers dethrone Clippers in straight sets

The Lakeland College Rustlers made a statement on Thursday, knocking off the defending ACAC champion Briercrest College Clippers in straight sets (25-17, 25-16, 26-24) in the quarterfinal of the ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship in Olds.

Vaughn Zimmer had a big night with 13 points (11 kills, two blocks) and four digs, while Gabriel Brinchmann Bjorkas posted eight kills and Elijah Rayner posted seven points (five kills, two blocks).

For the Clippers, three-time ACAC South Player of the Year Karym Coleman was his dominant self as he posted a game-high 20 kills, while Jackson Anderson (five kills, one block) and ACAC South All-Conference middle Adam Revet (three kills, two blocks, one ace) each had six points, with Anderson also adding six digs.

The Rustlers will now face off with the Keyano College Huskies in the second semifinal at 8 p.m., while the Clippers will drop to the consolation bracket to battle the Olds College Broncos at 3 p.m.
