Ooks outlast Kodiaks in five-set thriller

The NAIT Ooks will fly for at least another day, as they outlasted the Lethbridge College Kodiaks in a highly competitive five-set affair to open the 2024 ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship in Olds.

Ross Bishop was top-notch for the Ooks as the ACAC North All-Conference middle posted a team-high 20 points on 12 kills (20 attacks .550 hitting percentage), two aces and six blocks, while ACAC All-Conference outside Shae McIntyre added 14 points on 11 kills, two blocks and an ace. Meanwhile, Wyatt Turnbull also scored in double-digits with 11 points on six kills, four blocks and an ace to go with a match-high 17 digs.

On the other side, the Kodiaks were led by ACAC South All-Conference outside Nolan Moes and his 17 points (15 kills, one ace, one block) and 12 digs, with Paul Dionne matching the 17-point effort on 14 kills and three blocks to go with eight digs. Shaye Wall also chipped in with seven points (four kills, two aces, one block) and eight digs for Lethbridge.

The Ooks now await the winner of the second quarterfinal between the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and the King's University Eagles at 6 p.m., while the Kodiaks will play the loser of the RDP-TKU match at 1 p.m.
