Kings put stamp on ACAC South crown with win in Olds
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings cemented their status atop the ACAC South on Saturday, taking down the Olds College Broncos in straight sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-16) at the Ralph Klein Centre on Saturday.
The Kings (16-3) will enter the ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship as the South's top seed and a quarterfinal matchup with The King's University Eagles, while the host Broncos (8-11) will see the Keyano College Huskies in their quarterfinal; both matches will take place on Thursday, February 22.
Colby Nemeth paced the Kings' attack with 15 points (12 kills, two aces, one block) and five digs, while Noah Carlson added 12 kills and three digs of his own. Zachary Neufeld and Tom Wass each added eight points, with Wass contributing a team-high seven digs in the win.
On the Olds College side of things, Aidyn Phillips led the way with eight kills, while Matheus Franca and Reed Grusing posted identical stat lines with five kills, a block, and five digs.
