Men's Volleyball Huskies best Broncos in regular season finale

Fort McMurray, Alta. (February 10, 2024) - Olds Broncos 1 Keyano Huskies 3 (25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23)

The Keyano Huskies scored a four-set victory against the visiting Olds College Broncos at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. Saturday night, completing a perfect 10-0 home record for the 2023-24 ACAC Regular Season. 

After a brisk win in the first set by the Huskies, the Broncos fought back to make the next three sets interesting with the second and fourth sets nearly put into extra points. Facing down their quarter-final opponent for the upcoming 2024 ACAC Men's Volleyball Championship, the Huskies had to stay focused to best their opponent, slipping on occasion, but eventually coming roaring back.

Rafael Parada did most of that roaring with 18 kills, five more than teammate Athus Silva and his 13. Preston Yole and Nathan Luken each stepped up with bigger roles to earn eight kills each in the match. A 15-dig performance by Anderson King led that statistical category for the Huskies while Noah Gagné added 44 assists from the setter position. Silva continued to dominate, adding five blocks in the match while Parada and Yole each secured four for the Huskies. 

Reed Grusing's 19 kills led the Broncos while Matheus Franca had 10 to join him in double digits. Strahinja Lazarevic's nine digs edged out Francea for the team lead on the day. Sean Vanderzee added 31 assists from the setter position to feature in the match as well.
