Kodiaks bounce back and win final home game

February 10, 2024 - Kodiaks win in the fifth set at home 

 

The Wolves surged ahead in the first set, establishing an early lead, but the Kodiaks remained in striking distance. With an impressive display of skill, the Kodiaks briefly surpassed the Wolves, only to see their rivals reclaim the lead. Notable performances included Kodiaks' #22 Paul Dionne, who racked up five kills, and Wolves' #07 Logan Hladchuk, who contributed two digs and four kills. In the end, it was the Wolves who clinched the set with a narrow 25-23 victory.

Set two saw a tightly contested battle as the Wolves and Kodiaks traded points early on. However, it was the Kodiaks who managed to gain momentum, pulling ahead while the Wolves kept the pressure on. Standout players included Wolves' #10 Josh Dumont and Kodiaks' #14 Nolan Moes, who made crucial contributions. The Kodiaks ultimately sealed the set with a 25-19 score in their favour.

The third set kicked off with the Kodiaks coming out strong, determined to maintain their momentum. Despite the Wolves' best efforts to keep peace, the Kodiaks surged ahead, forcing their opponents to call a timeout. With impressive performances from players like Wolves' #15 Justice Bigstone and Kodiaks' #08 Shaye Wall, the Kodiaks dominated the set, securing a commanding 25-15 victory. 

As the fourth set got underway, the Kodiaks aimed to maintain their lead, but the Wolves had other plans. Swiftly taking control, the Wolves built an early advantage, though the Kodiaks fought back valiantly. Notable plays came from Kodiaks' #01 Ben St. Pierre and Wolves' #17 Chad Morison. In the end, the Wolves managed to hold off the Kodiaks, clinching the set with a score of 25-22.

With the match tied at two sets apiece, the tension was palpable as the teams entered the decisive fifth set. The Kodiaks came out determined to secure the win, quickly gaining the upper hand. Despite the Wolves' efforts to keep pace, the Kodiaks surged ahead, ultimately claiming victory with a hard-fought 15-11 win in the final set.
