Men's Volleyball Huskies top visiting Trojans

Fort McMurray, Alta. (February 9, 2024) - SAIT Trojans 0 Keyano Huskies 3 (25-18, 25-16, 29-27)

The Keyano Huskies Men's Volleyball Huskies had to work some overtime in set three, but got the job done to defeat the SAIT Trojans in straight sets Friday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta.

The Huskies made quick work of the first two sets, but the Trojans found their gear in set three. Going back and forth with the Huskies, the visiting Trojans even served up a potential set point during the see-saw affair until the Huskies were able to regain control.

Athus Silva and Rafael Parada topped the Huskies' attack with eight kills each while teammate Nathan Luken had seven of his own. Preston Yole added five. Noah Gagné served up 31 assists as part of setting duties for the Huskies while Anderson King's nine digs edged out Parada's eight for the team lead. Yole and Silva tied for the team lead in blocks with four each to suffocate their opponents on this night. 

Answering back for the Trojans were Diem Amuan and Logan Williams, who each had six kills in the match. Dominic Soucie was next up with five for his side. Richard Hy tallied 11 assists for the Trojans while Soucie led the team in the dig department with six to his name. 

The Trojans will venture back down south to take on the Lakeland Ruslters while the Huskies play host to the Olds College Broncos Saturday.
