NAIT Ooks win against Kodiaks in 5

February 9, 2024 - Kodiaks drop in a close fifth set

 

Set 1 saw an explosive start from the Kodiaks' #8 Shaye Wall, landing a massive kill to thrust the team into an early lead. However, the Ooks swiftly found their rhythm, seizing control and edging ahead. With determination, the Kodiaks regained the lead, holding on until the set's conclusion with a score of 25-22. 

In Set 2, the Kodiaks maintained their momentum, propelled by #17 Kohlbe Anderson's powerful kills. Despite the Ooks' efforts, the Kodiaks retained their lead, ultimately clinching the set 25-22 in a closely contested battle.

Set 3 witnessed a fierce back-and-forth struggle, with the Ooks initially seizing the lead. However, the Kodiaks, led by #4 Tyler Chernishenko's defensive prowess, kept the pressure on. The Ooks' #15 Shae McIntyre showcased offensive skills with 5 kills, ultimately helping the Ooks secure the set narrowly, with a score of 27-25.

The fourth set saw a determined Ooks team storming ahead, with the Kodiaks fighting tooth and nail to stay in contention. Despite #1 Ben St. Pierre's commendable defensive efforts and 11 assists for the Kodiaks, the Ooks surged forward, clinching the set 25-21 and forcing a decisive fifth set.

In the final set, the Kodiaks surged ahead early, but the resilient Ooks quickly turned the tide in their favor. Despite the Kodiaks' valiant efforts, the Ooks maintained their composure, ultimately seizing the set 15-13 and clinching the game in a thrilling conclusion.
