Ooks Win Thriller at Senior Night

Friday nights action saw the visiting Kings Eagles take on the NAIT Ooks. The first set saw both teams trading points for the first half of the set with neither team able to gain much of an advantage. Both teams saw impressive kills from the likes of Ooks #5 Wyatt Turnbull and Eagles #2 Chris Rooker, but neither team was able to gain more of a two-point lead. The Eagles were able to gain the biggest lead of the set due to some powerful serves from #4 Tanner Piers. Kills from Ooks #6 Daniel Ward and #15 Shae McIntyre were able to keep them close and prevent the Eagles from pulling away late in the opening set. The Eagles were able to pull away at the end of the set winning 25-23.

The Eagles lead 1-0.

The second set started with multiple long rallies going both ways. Unlike the first set, the Ooks were able to gain an early advantage, resulting in the Eagles calling an early timeout. The Ooks continued to increase their lead throughout the set with more impressive rallies. The Eagles continued to battle and tried to keep it close, but the Ooks were too determined to tie the game up. Ooks #6 Daniel Ward #15 Shae McIntyre were able to continue their powerful kills from the first set to help keep the Ooks ahead.  The Ooks were able to tie the game up from a block by #2 Benjamin Kieser and #6 Daniel Ward. The score was 25-17.

The score was tied 1-1.

The third set saw both teams trading points out of the gate, just like in the first set. The Ooks were able to gain a slim lead with kills coming from #9 Ross Bishop and #5 Wyatt Turnbull. The Eagles continued to keep the set close with amazing plays from #1 Kaiden Aceron and #11 Carter Roflik. The Ooks were able to pull away late, taking the third set, by a score of 25-20.

The Ooks lead 2-1.

The fourth set saw the Ooks gain an early lead due to kills from #9 Ross Bishop and #15 Shae McIntyre. The Eagles were able to battle back and take the lead with kills coming from #1 Kaiden Aceron and #7 Matthew Milne. Both teams continued to trade points throughout the second half of the set, keeping the game close. While both teams battled till the end of the set, the Ooks were able to take the fourth set and the game.

The Ooks won 3-1.
