Rustlers bounce back with win over Vikings

After their first bad match of the year, the Lakeland Rustlers rose to the occasion in their final home match of the 1st semester.

In town Saturday evening was the Augustna Vikings, a team looking for their first win of the year. in the first set, the Rustlers quickly asserted themselves at the service line to win 25-19. In the second, the Vikings play improved, Lakeland's dipped slightly and the next two sets were a back and forth affair. Augustana won the second 25-23, while the home team took a pivotal third 26-24.

In the fourth set, Lakeland's serving proved the difference again as the Rustlers limited their errors on the way to winning 25-16. Brock Tomyn and Vaugh Zimmer each had 10 kills, while POG Declan mercer had 3 kills and 3 blocks out of the middle. Robbie Taylor came off the bench for the Vikings to post 7 kills.

Lakeland improves to 7-2, maintaining their one-win margin over third and fourth place in the North Division. They end the semester on the road this Friday in Camrose, where they will again face the Vikings.
