Broncos silence Thunder in Olds

The Olds College Broncos are back on level footing, knocking off the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) at the Ralph Klein Centre on Friday to get back to .500 for the season.

Reed Grusing had a dominant evening for Olds College (3-3) with 14 points (seven kills, six aces and a block) and four digs, while Aidyn Phillips provided solid support with six points (five kills, one ace) and four digs, and Ben Atwood added five points (three kills, two aces).

For the Thunder (0-7), Brodie Wight paced the attack with eight kills, while Alexi Dufour (five kills) and Logan Kranrod (four kills, one ace) added five points apiece.

The service line was the difference in the matchup as the Broncos posted 10 aces to 13 errors, while the Thunder had two aces compared to 21 errors.

Tomorrow, the Broncos take the trip up Highway 2 to face The King's University Eagles, while the Thunder will host the SAIT Trojans; first serve in both matches is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Both matches will be broadcast on ACACTV.ca, as well as on TELUS OptikTV channel 1998.
