Broncos bounce Trojans to earn weekend split

The Olds College Broncos bounced back on home court, using hot starts to defeat the SAIT Trojans in straight sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) at the Ralph Klein Centre on Saturday, salvaging a weekend split between the two sides.

As part of an efficient overall attack, Olds College (2-3) was led by a 13-point performance from Aidyn Phillips (nine kills, four aces) to go with four digs, while Reed Grusing added 12 points (eight kills, two aces, and two blocks), and both Matheus Franca and Ben Gammel posted seven digs apiece, with Franca also contributing five points of offense on four kills and a block.

For the Trojans (1-5), Gustavo Machado led the offensive output with five kills and a block to go with three digs, while Joshua Budach added three kills, an ace and a block, and Jaxson Thys chipped in with two aces, a block and three digs. 

Next up, the Broncos will host the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder, while SAIT will head to Edmonton to play The King's University Eagles, with both matches scheduled to start on Nov. 3 at 8 p.m.

Both matches will be live streamed on ACACTV.ca, as well as on TELUS OptikTV channel 1998.
