RDP defeats SAIT

The SAIT Trojans men's volleyball team lost in four sets on Friday night, falling to the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings. The Trojans record now sits at 0-3 as they look for their first win of the season. RDP is now 2-0.

The Trojans home opener didn't kick off the way they wanted, as they went down early in the first set and couldn't mount much of a comeback, losing 25-15.

They battled back, though, and put on a great performance in the second. #1 Jaxson Thys led the way, as he did for most of the match with his team leading 13 kills, and helped SAIT come out with the close 26-24 set win.

RDP jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the third set, forcing SAIT to take a timeout, but SAIT gained some momentum and came back to make it a 19-16 deficit late. It was just a little bit too late, though, and RDP won the third set 25-21.

With the fourth being do or die, the Trojans battled hard to keep the game alive. They went down early, but forced a Kings timeout after coming back to make the game 16-15 for RDP.

Unfortunately for SAIT, RDP came out of the time out flying and took a 23-18 lead, forcing the Trojans to take a timeout of their own. The Trojans couldn't get anything going after, and lost the set 25-18.

The Trojans and Kings will meet again tomorrow night, this time at Red Deer Polytechnic. SAIT will be looking for revenge and to grab their first victory of the new season.
