NWP Wolves host UAA Vikings
NWP host UAA in the weekend double header.
Game opens with point to point scoring similar to yesterdays match. NWP's #4 Kaden Bennett with a block brings the Wolves ahead by 1, score 4-3. Wolves #7 Logan Hlardchuk with a kill followed by an Ace serve brings the game to 7-5 for NWP. UAA's #13 Jacob Christiensen with a huge kill for the Vikings. They battle back to gain the lead 8-7. Vikings pull away with a 4 point lead and NWP's coach Ron Thomson calls a time out. Vikings maintain a 3 point lead. Kills from NWP's #10 Josh Dumont and #4 Kaden Bennett tie the score up again at 13-13. Ace serve for Vikings #11 Calder Thompson, UAA pulls away by 3 points. NWP's #10 Josh Dumont with a kill, and the Wolves trail by 1, score is 16-15 for UAA. Wolves call anther time out after a series of points by the Vikings, score 23-17. NWP's Chad Morrison with a big kill brings the score to 24-21 for UAA. UAA calls a time out. Despite the Wolves best efforts Vikings take the first set 25-22.
Second set Wolves takes a one-point lead with a big kill from #15 Justice Bigstone, score 7-6 Wolves. NWP manages to pull away by 2 points, score is 10-8 for NWP. Wolves maintain a slight lead but Vikings close in, score 12-11 NWP. Wolves pull away by 3 points and UAA calls a timeout. Play returns and Wolves get the first point with a block from NWP's # 17 Chad Morrison. Wolves #10 Josh Dumont throws down a kill and Wolves lead 16-12. After an impressive rally that nearly takes out the table crew Vikings get the point, Wolves remain in the lead 16-14. NWP's #10 Josh Dumont with another kill to keep the 3 point lead. Vikings call a time out, when the Wolves gain a 5 point lead, score 22-17. Wolves come back and gain the first 2 points. Wolves take the second set with a kill from #4 Kaden Bennett.
Third set ties up 5-5. Wolves pull ahead by 2 and UAA calls a time out. Score is 8-6. Score gets tied up at 9-9. Ace serve from NWP's # 10 Josh Dumont, NWP leads 12-9. NWP's #12 Koda Dunfield with the dig keeps the Wolves alive in an exciting rally. Blocks by Wolves #15 Justice Bigstone, take the score 18-11 for NWP. Wolves pull away with significant lead and UAA calls a time out. Score is 22-14. Wolves maintain their lead score is 24-14. Vikings battle back for 4 points in a row, but the third set goes to the Wolves 25-18.
Fourth set the Wolves pull away 4-0. Vikings call a time out. Vikings #17 Devon Nazarchuk with a huge block gives the Vikings their 3rd point. Score remains in the Wolves favor 7-3. Tip over from Vikings #13 Jacob Christiensen and the Vikings work to close the scoring gap. Wolves remain ahead, 13-7. Ace Serve from NWP's #10 Josh Dumont and UAA calls a time out. Score 14-7 for NWP. Wolves keep the lead ahead by 7 points. Vikings #13 comes up again with a block to keep the Vikings in the game. Wolves maintain their lead and pull away 22-16. Vikings battle back with a big kill from #17 Devon Nazarchuk. Wolves still edge the scoring 23-18. Wolves #11 Mahki Lea with the kill, and the Wolves win the second game of home opening weekend.
