Keyano knocks down Olds College

The Keyano College Huskies rallied after dropping the opening set to push past the Olds College Broncos three sets to one at the Ralph Klein Centre on Friday.

Noah Gagné set the table beautifully for the Huskies attack all night with 27 assists en route to being named Player of the Game for Keyano College (4-1), while Joao Cunha made the most of everything that came his way, finishing with 16 kills on 35 attempts. Meanwhile, Athus Silva was a dominant force at the net with eight blocks.

For Olds College (1-4), it was Reed Grusing who did significant damage with eight kills and four blocks, while Strahinja Lazarevic contributed six kills for the Broncos; meanwhile, libero Jesse Stoddart was Olds College's Player of the Game with five digs.

The first set was evenly contested, with the sides trading points back and forth until the Broncos pulled away for a 25-22 win. However, the Huskies would turn the tables and establish control in the second through a 25-14 win to get the match back to a set each, taking 10 of the final 11 points in the process. The third and fourth sets followed similar scripts where the Huskies pushed ahead, then heading off late rally attempts from the Broncos to win 25-20 and 25-22, respectively.

Keyano College heads further south to face the SAIT Trojans tomorrow, while Olds College will battle Lakeland College to wrap up the weekend.
