Keyano Huskies Prevail in Semifinal Showdown Against Kings University Eagles

(EDMONTON, AB) - Game 3 on Saturday was an epic showdown between The Kings University Eagles and the Keyano Huskies. The Huskies came in as the number one seed though having lost to the Kings in the regular season.

A hard collision near the fan's side of the dome got the crowd into it early, and both teams looked focused and intent on playing their brand of football.

Not many chances through the first 25, as both keepers had minimal touches. The play was tight, but a great chance by (16) for the huskies Tano Torchia in the 43' but the breakaway chance was sent high. The score at the half was 0-0

The second half starts with fast legs of both sides, but early chances for Keyano help build off the momentum they built on the first half. Keyano 21 Mario Morote was booked for a yellow as the first booking of the match in the 55', making it clear that both teams had come to win. In the 75th minute, Eagles #14 Marcel Faude was booked for a red for a tackle that prevented a fantastic scoring opportunity. In the 85 minute, #15 of the Huskies was also booked for a red, and the stage was set for an epic semifinal finish. Full-time ended 0-0.

The overtime match-up began with a great chance by #15 Noah Bilodeau (TKU), but a great tackle by Aaron Ernst cleared it out nicely. A free kick by Eagles #10 Brenden Spackman hit the post in the 93', and the tensions were palpable.

In the 94th minute, #22 for the Keyano Huskies had a penalty kick that was saved epically by Scott Hornback, completing the overtime halves. The shootout had fans on the edge of their seats, with some incredible shots and saves on both sides, Keyano finished the shootout on top, winning in penalty kicks 5-4 and moves on to the finals.
