Fort McMurray, Alta. (October 22, 2023) - Lakeland Rustlers 1 Keyano Huskies 2

The Keyano Huskies Men's Soccer team scored a 2-1 win Sunday afternoon at Shell Place in Fort McMurray, Alta. to secure a weekend sweep of the Lakeland Rustlers and also earn the top spot in the ACAC's North Division for the 2023 outdoor season. 

Taking charge in the opening minutes of the game, Hafid Arellano scored in the sixth minute to put the Huskies ahead.

In the closing moments of the second half, a straight red card was issued to the Rustlers. On the ensuing penalty kick, Cleisson Anklam stepped up and buried the eventual game-winning goal. 

The only scoring of an intense second half came from the foot of Lakeland's Samuel Dosumu-Hathrobe, who brought his side within a goal in extra time. However the Huskies held on enough to secure the one-goal win.

The Huskies have now earned a bye into the semi-finals at the 2023 ACAC Men's Soccer Championship where they'll face the winner of Thursday's matchup between The King's University Eagles and Red Deer Polytechnic King's.
