SAIT defeats LETH

Calgary, October 15, 2023 – Lethbridge 0 at SAIT 7

The SAIT Trojans men's soccer team dominated the Lethbridge Kodiaks on Sunday, winning 7-0 and improving their record to 8-1 on the year.

The loss put the Kodiaks record at 4-3-2.

The Trojans opened the scoring 14 minutes in with a great goal from #13 Jon Ingram, who put a ball in the bottom right corner after a beautiful pass from #2 Jacob Hunter. Ten minutes later, #8 Taiyo Okawa would bury his first of three first half goals to put SAIT up 2-0.

#7 Ryusei Ito and #8 Taiyo Okawa would each score to give the Trojans a four-goal lead, and in extra time of the first half Okawa would score what could be the goal of the year, volleying one to himself and placing the ball perfectly into the bottom right corner out of midair.

SAIT went to half with a 5-0 lead.

Seven minutes into the second half #22 Michael Amedu would receive a red card, leaving SAIT with just 10 men on the field the rest of the way.

It wouldn't matter, though, as two goals from #23 Ilyich Gharahmadani gave SAIT a 7-0 lead by the 75th minute. Even with just 10 players, the Trojans kept up with the Kodiaks, each of them taking five shots in the second half.

SAIT goalie #1 Oliver Allen stopped all six shots on goal he faced to come away with the shutout.

The 8-1 Trojans will head to Medicine Hat College next Saturday for their last regular season game of the year, facing off against the 2-4-2 Rattlers.
