SAIT defeats OLDS

The SAIT Trojans Men's Soccer Team won their match against Olds College 5-0 on Sunday, staying undefeated and improving their record to 6-0. Like they have done all season, the Trojans outplayed their opponents from the opening whistle, and they have now scored 35 goals this year while only giving up 1.

#17 Esrom Yohannes opened the scoring just 10 minutes in after a fairly even start to the game. After that, the Trojans pressed for more but were stopped multiple times on good chances by Olds College.

In the 44th minute #13 Jon Ingram was taken down in the box during a scoring chance and converted on a beautiful penalty kick to give SAIT the 2-0 lead right before halftime. Using the good momentum coming out from half, the Trojans scored 2 quick goals, one in the 53rd minute and one in the 57th to increase their lead to 4. #19 Malcolm Rekter provided the first, assistedby #9 Arash Mahjor, and #8 Taiyo Okawa scored his first of 2 goals for the second.

Things got chippy from there, including yellow cards from both teams as Olds College tried to battle back. As SAIT stood tall, though, it became more and more clear the Trojans would come away with the win.

#8 Taiyo Okawa netted his second goal just before stoppage time to give SAIT the 5-0 lead. The chippiness continued, but in the end the Trojans would walk away with a 5-0 win to keep their perfect record.

The Trojans Men's Soccer Team will look to move to 7-0 next weekend against AMB, who will be looking to right the ship after a tough 1-5 start to their season.
